More Amazing Sights from Churches, May 4.

Walking home from the left bank Saturday, I stopped at the medieval/renaissance church that is St. Etienne-du-Mont.  It's behind the more famous Pantheon.

There is an indoor cloister, as it was a monastery to begin with, at the rear of the church with very interesting I think 16th century painted glass -- much of which has been recently restored.  What astonished me most was the panel depicting the body of Christ laid out in red liquid, and beside -a wine press, with his redeeming blood being collected like wine.

Of course, Noah loaded unicorns on his ark.

A detail of one of few surviving "jubés" in France... elevated structures separated from the congregation from where priests led worship until some sort of decree came out where the Priests had to come closer to the congregation, and most were removed.  Some historical preservation from the 17th centure managed to preserve this crazy beautiful one.  For a French video on the subject:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWoIK6eAk_8&t=1s

Only one side gallery in the nave.

Curious holy water bowl from giant clamshell.
